In times of minimal resources and high burn-out, developing the business acumen to recruit, hire, train or “coach out” is an imperative skill set. Adding the value of seeing these issues through Ethical lenses certainly creates another dimension.
Within the auspices of this informal dialogue, we will discuss the pitfalls of having the ‘wrong person in the seat of the bus.’ If we have soaked valuable resources into our staff, isn’t it important to take their strengths and challenges, goals and professional dreams to heart? Are we obligated to assist them? If they aren’t the right fit, do we fire them or coach them out? When looking through the lenses of our Ethical responsibilities, does our decision making change?
Objectives:
1. Discuss the concept and practice of “Coaching-Out” within the workforce.
2. Recognize when an employee is not a good fit for a position and work with them to identify the reality and the benefits to themselves, colleagues and clients.
3. To discuss scenarios and solutions to manage a solid, productive, healthy team when one of its team members doesn’t make the grade.
